Hess and fellow panelists will discuss what to make of the administration's current agenda and what to expect in the future. AEI visiting scholar Mark Schneider, who is also vice president at the American Institutes for Research, AEI adjunct scholar Andy Smarick, and Kevin Carey, policy director at Education Sector, will offer their analyses of current and forthcoming education reform efforts. Alice Johnson Cain, education director at the Hope Street Group and a former senior adviser to Chairman George Miller of the House Committee on Education and Labor, will provide a Capitol Hill perspective. Andrew Kelly, research fellow in education policy at AEI, will moderate the discussion.

Event: 2009 Annual Survey: Results on the 10 State Actions

Description: The Data Quality Campaign will release its first survey results on state status on implementing the DQC 10 State Actions to Ensure Effective Use of Data. This report will provide greater detail on how states are changing policies and practices to promote linkages across systems, ensure appropriate access to new data and analysis, and strengthen stakeholder capacity to use the information. The event will also include an award ceremony to officially recognize exemplary leaders in their efforts to build and use longitudinal data systems and a corresponding panel to highlight the work of these leading states and districts.
